Saddam Hussein, the former Iraqi dictator, was captured on December 13, 2003, after nine months on the run. His regime, characterized by brutality and opulence, ended following a U.S. invasion in March 2003, aimed at addressing his oppressive government. He was executed in December 2006, with no WMDs found despite extensive searches.
